Fermanagh Voluntary Association of the Disabled was established in 1964. The ethos of the organisation has never changed and our mission statement is:-'To promote the welfare of persons whose lives are affected by disability'. The centres activities include:-
Social Evenings and Recreational/Educational Trips
Training Courses including IT, art/craft, gardening, first aid, life skills, dance and drama, money management, etc.
An information helpline
Community Re Paint scheme where unused paint is taken in from the public, recycled and redistributed to charities, community and voluntary groups and those on benefits/pensions who may be in need.
Seminars,Conferences and Cross-Border Work. Our cross border partners are: The Irish Wheelchair Association in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim
At the centre, there is a 'community garden', an organic garden and a polytunnel. These provide worthwhile employment opportunities and experience for disabled people and volunteers who help cultivate and maintain them and in turn sell the produce to the public. In Mill Street, there is also a 'Charity Shop' run by disabled members. All these projects generate income for the running costs of the organisation.

We provide room hire at reasonable rates to interested groups
FVAD'S aims and objectives is to support and encourage disabled people to;
Seek employment in an area of their choice, even if only for therapeutic reasons;
Participate in a variety of social, recreational & training activities;
Promote acceptance of disabled people;
Assist people cope with disabling factors & encourage the growth of remaining abilities;
Improve access to information;
To create equality of living for disabled people;
To promote general social welfare and independence among persons with a disability.
Our building open 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m Monday to Friday is wheelchair accessible and has disabled equipped toilets, and we have computer software for the visually impaired.
