Launch of the Public Health Agency Drugs & Alcohol Small Grants Scheme 05 February 2010, Launch of the Public Health Agency Drugs & Alcohol Small Grants Scheme

Grants are available to the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland for the purposes of achieving health outcomes which include: reduction of inequalities in health; improvement in health and wellbeing; improvement in social welfare; delivery of health and social services; targeting social need and promoting social inclusion; and promoting partnership for health improvement between voluntary and community organisations within their sector, and between the statutory, business and voluntary and community sectors.

Resource/project grants will support eligible projects that encourage innovation, test new ideas or carry out research.  Grants may be used to fund the following costs:

  • Relevant and essential tutor costs related to the project or service (if applying for tutor/facilitator costs, the tutor/facilitator must be identified and evidence of their appropriate qualifications provided with the application).
  • Relevant programme and training costs.
  • Relevant running costs and overheads.
  • Appropriate management and audit costs.
  • Costs of involving volunteers.
  • Evaluation costs for the project or service.

The scheme is open to voluntary and community organisations in Northern Ireland.  Proposals that target the top 25% most disadvantaged ward areas will be particularly favoured.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 March 2010 (4pm).
