Profile

ERNE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE
Erne U3A is a 'university' in the real meaning of that word - a gathering of people who like learning together and from one another. The Third Age follows the second age of work and family, and the first of childhood. It is a time of new opportunity freedom to pursue interests, social, intellectual, active and practical, and all just for the fun of it.
U3As are an international network. There are a dozen in Northern Ireland with over 2,000 members, all linked to the central U3A Trust. U3As are local self governing voluntary bodies. Together, in mutual local support, we organise and share educational, creative and leisure activities. And we have the time, the wit and the wisdom to enjoy them.
Among its over 160 members, Erne U3A's most important are our Animators. They lead and organise all activities and courses. Examples include Art Appreciation, Books, Computing, History & Heritage, Singing, Tai Chi, Trips and Walks. All are set out in Erne U3A Newsletter , posted out about six per year, and U3A magazine thrice yearly to members.
Erne U3A members must be aged 50 or more, retired or unemployed. Erne U3A membership fee, valid from October to September , is £10 per year, single, or £15 for a couple at the same address.
For a sample copy of Erne U3A Newsletter, and an application form, please contact Erne U3A Chairperson, Michael Clarke, Ardlougher, Irvinestown, BT94 1RN. Tel 6862-1436 or Email   michael.clarke@swiftsoft.net
